Itinerary

Day 1 A taxi picks you up from home to take you to your tour coach, which then heads north toward Derby, making suitable refreshment stops along the way. We arrive at our hotel late afternoon.

Day 2 We spend our morning walking through the stunning parkland and countryside surrounding Chatsworth House, home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. Beginning in the pretty estate village of Beeley, we take a path across the fields to Chatsworth Garden Centre for a short break. We continue along the banks of the River Derwent with fabulous views of Chatsworth House. (Walk: approx. 2 miles). In the afternoon we have included a visit to the house itself.

Day 3 We drive into the beautiful Peak District, with a visit to Matlock Bath, before we head to Buxton, with time to explore the town and delightful gardens and get some lunch. Our final stop of the day is Bakewell, home of the famous puddings.

Day 4 Our second walk begins at Ilam Hall and takes us past the picturesque church and through the pretty village. Our path over the fields has views of Thorpe Cloud, the dramatic hill that marks the southern end of Dovedale. Finally along the riverside path through the dale to see the famous Dovedale Stepping Stones, before rejoining our coach. (Walk: approx. 2 miles). This afternoon we visit Sudbury Hall and the Museum of Childhood, which is a delight for all ages.

Day 5 Leaving our hotel after breakfast, we travel southwards, with suitable refreshment stops, arriving in the local area early evening.
