The Wilder Kaiser Region is one of the most scenic and gentle walking areas in the Alps. A qualified walking guide will lead you to some of the most picturesque spots in the Kitzbühel Alps.
Day 1 After collection from home, we travel to Dover for the crossing to Calais. We continue to our overnight hotel near Saarbrücken.
Day 2 Leaving our hotel after breakfast, we continue southwards reaching the Tyrol and our hotel in Kirchberg late afternoon.
Day 3 We meet our walking guide and head to Ellmau, to ascend to the summit of the Hartkaiser Mountain by gondola lift. We follow the Rübezahl path which is about 1½km long and is lined with 22 wooden figures, all created by a local innkeeper with his chainsaw! At the Rübezahl Alm Mountain Inn we enjoy a ‘Speckjause’ (smoked bacon snack), before walking 20 minutes to the middle station to take the gondola back down.
Day 4 Our guide takes us for about one hour along the shady path to the Griesener Alm, gateway to the awe-inspiring world of the Kaiserbach Valley. We visit the Tyrolean Show Dairy for a cheese tasting and then it is roughly one hour to walk back to the coach.
Day 5 Today we have an exciting walk through the Kundl Gorge. We reach the entrance on a road train, before enjoying approximately one-hour walking the 3km path which winds its way through the dramatic rockfaces along the river. We finish with a visit to Wildschönau Farmhouse Museum.
Day 6 We travel back into Germany and our overnight hotel.
Day 7 Departing after breakfast, we head to Calais for the crossing to Dover. We continue to the local area and our ever-faithful taxis.
