Join us on an early tour to the cathedral cities of Cambridge and Ely, visit the incredible War Museum at Duxford and delve into the life of Winston Churchill at his favourite home.
Day 1 After being picked up from your door, we travel north eastwards and have an afternoon visit to the pretty town of Saffron Walden. We continue to our hotel where we are met with tea and biscuits, and time to relax before our evening meal.
Day 2 After a leisurely breakfast, we travel to the superb Imperial War Museum at Duxford. Formerly an RAF base, Duxford is today Europe’s foremost aviation museum with nearly 200 aircraft, military vehicles, artillery and minor naval vessels in seven main exhibition buildings.
Day 3 We visit the city of Ely where you have the chance to explore the magnificent cathedral or take a stroll around the town and market. From Ely, we head for Bury St Edmunds with its famous Abbey Gardens, connections with Dickens and The Nutshell, reputedly the smallest pub in the country.
Day 4 We travel the short distance into Cambridge, a city with many fascinating attractions. We enjoy a guided tour of Cambridge ending with a visit to the American Cemetery. Then you have some free time to explore the city, get some lunch or discover the wealth of shopping opportunities.
Day 5 Departing after breakfast, we make our way south and visit Chartwell, the remarkable home of Winston Churchill. After time to explore and purchase some lunch, we continue homewards to meet our taxis.
