Visit the honey-stoned villages of the Cotswolds, and delve into the past on a remarkable steamship and heritage railway.
Day 1 After pick up by taxi, we make our way to Marlborough in Wiltshire, for time to shop and get some lunch. We then continue to our hotel, where we are welcomed with tea, coffee and cookies. There will be a welcome drink with dinner as you get to know your fellow guests.
Day 2 This morning we travel to Bristol and begin with a guided walking tour of this historic maritime city. After free time for lunch, we visit the SS Great Britain, Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s magnificent passenger steamship, for a fascinating glimpse into life onboard for travellers in the 19th Century.
Day 3 Our day in the Cotswolds begins with a visit to beautiful Burford, and then a lunch stop in Stow-on-the-Wold. In the afternoon we travel to Toddington to meet the Gloucestershire-Warwickshire Railway for the 40- minute nostalgic train ride to Cheltenham. Our final visit is to Stroud, a honey-stoned Cotswold market town.
Day 4 Departing our hotel, we travel the short distance into Swindon and STEAM, the Museum of the Great Western Railway. The museum is housed in a beautifully restored Grade II listed railway building in the heart of the former Swindon railway works, located right next to Swindon's Designer Outlet. We then travel back to the local area, meeting our taxis late afternoon.
Our four-star hotel is situated 3 miles from Swindon and features pleasant restaurant, bar, lounge and a well-equipped gym. Bedrooms have TV, telephone, hairdryer and hospitality tray. The hotel has WiFi and a lift.
