On this tour we combine the wonders of the Dutch Bulbfields and Keukenhof in spring, the vibrant city of Amsterdam, and the villages of Volendam and Zaanse Schans, all while taking pleasure in the wonderful food, comfort and hospitality of CroisiEurope.
Day 1 Collected from your door you join the coach and we travel to Dover for the short Channel crossing. We make our way to Antwerp and join the MS Leonard de Vinci at around 6pm. There will be a cocktail party with the crew before dinner. The ship’s hostess will then lead an exploration of the old city.
Day 2 Departure of the boat early in the morning as we sail through the port of Antwerp and out into the inland sea. We travel through immense locks and have wonderful views before we sail into Rotterdam. Tonight is a Gala Evening.
Day 3 After breakfast, the boat departs for Utrecht and here we leave for our visit to the glorious Keukenhof Gardens, with time to enjoy the amazing tulip, narcissi and hyacinth displays. We rejoin the boat in Amsterdam. This evening there is an optional guided boat tour of the city by night (bookable on board).
Day 4 Breakfast on board before a tour of Amsterdam calling at a diamond merchant’s workshop. After lunch on board we depart by coach to Volendam, a traditional Dutch village and then onto Zaanse Schans, an open-air museum to admire over 100 typical wooden houses, windmills and warehouses dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Return on board for dinner before enjoying a free evening.
Day 5 Breakfast on board before disembarking at 9am. We make our way to Calais to take our afternoon sailing to Dover, where we travel by coach and taxi to our homes.
Part of the CroisiEurope fleet of river cruisers, the MS Leonard de Vinci has 72 en-suite cabins on two decks with TV, hairdryer and safe. Facilities on board include lounge-bar with dance floor, comfortable restaurant (set menu), a gift shop and sundeck. There is no lift, and main deck cabins are accessed down stairs. The crew provide entertainment in the evenings.
