Everyone should experience the beauty of the flowers of Holland, where in spring the famous bulbfields unfurl like a rainbow. Marvel at the windmills at Zaanse Schans and visit the world famous Keukenhof Gardens, which offer the visitor 70 acres of colourful splendour - a sight that even nongardeners will treasure for ever.
Day 1 We travel to Dover for the short sea crossing to Calais and then make our way through Belgium directly to our hotel in Volendam. Suitable stops will be made en route for meals and refreshments.
Day 2 A full day excursion to Keukenhof, with plenty of time to enjoy the gardens created in 1949 as a showpiece for the Dutch flower industry, and to walk among the magnificent displays of tulips and other bulbs which bloom in their millions.
Day 3 A free day in Volendam, where you might like to visit the traditional harbourside shops and cafés, or take a boat to the famous island of Marken to see the traditional wooden houses of this old fishing village and people in traditional costume. Otherwise your driver will take you to Zaanse Schans, a beautiful hamlet with over 200 historic windmills.
Day 4 We travel through Holland, across Belgium and on to the port of Calais for our afternoon sailing to Dover. We then return along the coast, meeting our taxis and continuing home.
