Itinerary

Day 1 Today, an early start is required as we journey to our overnight hotel in the Lancashire region.

Day 2 We journey northward, crossing the border into Scotland, and reach New Lanark, a UNESCO World Heritage Site nestled along the scenic River Clyde. Here, we enjoy an included light lunch, before time to explore the charm of this distinctive 18th-century mill village or take a stroll along the river. We continue north to the outskirts of Dundee and our hotel, arriving in time for our evening meal.

Day 3 We begin our day in Dundee with a visit to the award-winning Discovery Point, where you can discover the history of the RRS Discovery, the three-masted ship that carried Captain Robert Falcon Scott on his famed trip to the Antarctic. The remainder of the day is yours to explore Dundee at your own pace, with a multitude of attractions to choose from, such as the V&A Museum, HMS Unicorn, Dundee Museum of Transport, and the McManus Art Gallery and Museum. (Entrances not included).

Day 4 We have a brief stop in the town of Glamis to admire the 18th-century cottages, but Glen Clova is our real destination this morning, driving into the valley in the Cairngorm National Park with superb views and an abundance of flora and wildlife. After an included light lunch at the Glen Clova Hotel, we continue to Glamis Castle, the legendary setting of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, and the childhood home of the late Queen Mother. Enjoy a captivating journey through history, discover the grandeur of the castle and its enchanting gardens.

Day 5 We travel over the Tay Bridge and onto the Fife coastal route to the historic town of St Andrews, Scotland’s world-famous home of golf, the oldest university in Scotland and impressive Cathedral ruins. We have a two- hour guided walking tour of St. Andrews, where our local guide will bring the medieval streets alive with tales of golfing legends, royals, heretics and even famous cats! We continue along the Fife Coast, past Crail, to the pretty, historic fishing village of Anstruther.

Day 6 It’s an early start this morning to begin our journey south. We cross the Firth of Forth and reach Edinburgh. We have some free time to explore this magnificent city, before continuing across the border to our overnight hotel in the Yorkshire area where we will arrive in time for dinner.

Day 7 We make our way home, with suitable refreshment stops along the way, reaching the south coast in the evening.
