The Peak District National Park boasts beautiful landscapes, hidden lakes and some of England’s finest Great Houses. We have included Crich Tramway Village, Chatsworth House, Kedleston Hall, and have allowed time in Derby’s historic Cathedral Quarter.
Day 1 A taxi picks you up from home to take you to your tour coach, which then heads north toward Derby, making suitable refreshment stops along the way. We arrive at our hotel late afternoon.
Day 2 Our visit today is Chatsworth House, located in the heart of the Peak District and home of the Duke & Duchess of Devonshire. You can admire the splendour of the house and its wonderful works of art and explore over 105 acres of garden discovering water features, giant sculptures and beautiful flowers.
Day 3 Today we take in some of the splendid scenery of the Peak District, and begin with a visit to Crich Tramway Village. Here you can travel on vintage trams through the lovingly restored period village museum. We then visit Matlock, where you have time for lunch and sightseeing. This afternoon we visit the picturesque Carsington Water Visitor Centre before we return to our hotel.
Day 4 After a leisurely breakfast, we visit Kedleston Hall, a lavishly decorated 18th-century show palace, which boasts many artistic treasures. Spend your afternoon relaxing at our hotel or explore Derby. A highlight is the Cathedral Quarter with unique independent shops, great cafés, restaurants and bars, stunning arts and cultural venues and historic landmarks including the magnificent cathedral itself, with one of the tallest towers in the country.
Day 5 Leaving our hotel after breakfast, we travel southwards, with suitable refreshment stops, arriving in the local area early evening.
Our modern four-star hotel is located in Mickleover, near Derby. The hotel has two bars, and leisure facilities including indoor swimming pool, steam room, sauna, whirlpool and gym. Bedrooms have TV, telephone, ironing facilities, hairdryer and hospitality tray. The hotel has WiFi and a lift.
