Kent is a county full of history and beautiful scenery, and our autumn tour takes you to some of its most-loved sites. Discover Canterbury, Broadstairs and Deal; visit museums, castles and gardens; and enjoy tea, cake and mugs of beer!
Day 1 After our door to door pick up, we travel by coach to Rye, and have some free time to explore this pretty town. We continue to Folkestone, where we are greeted at our hotel with a hot drink.
Day 2 A lovely day today begins with a visit to Broadstairs, where we visit the Dickens House Museum, housed in the cottage which was Charles Dickens’ inspiration for the home of Betsey Trotwood in David Copperfield. After free time to get some lunch, we visit Goodnestone Park Gardens to enjoy the autumn foliage and some tea and cake.
Day 3 Today we visit Canterbury, where you have time to explore the cathedral, and the quaint cobbled streets filled with interesting shops and cafés. We continue to Faversham for a guided tour of the Shepherd Neame Brewery, Britain’s oldest brewer.
Day 4 After a leisurely breakfast, we visit Walmer Castle, built in 1540 as part of Henry VIII’s chain of coastal defences. Over the years it has been transformed into an elegant stately home beloved of the Duke of Wellington and the Queen Mother. After a little free time in Deal we return via the Battle of Britain Memorial in Capel-le Ferne, reaching our hotel mid-afternoon.
Day 5 We travel to Bodiam Castle, where there is time to explore this 700-year-old moated castle, and to get some lunch. In the afternoon, we continue home.
