Day 1 We have an early departure, making a delightful stop in Stamford for lunch before arriving at our hotel by late afternoon.
Day 2 Today, our journey takes us to Durham to meet our guide for a tour of this splendid city. After time for lunch, we enjoy a cruise on the River Wear.
Day 3 This morning, our destination is Beamish where we will spend the day. Britain’s favourite open air museum, set in over 300 acres of beautiful countryside, vividly recreates life in the North of England in the early 1800s and 1900s, demonstrating the recent history of the region in a ‘living’ way.
Day 4 Today we have a scenic drive up along Teesdale to High Force Hotel. There will be time to walk down to the famous waterfall, or just enjoy a coffee at the top. Later we visit the Bowes Museum, a magnificent French-style chateau housing outstanding collections of art and design.
Day 5 We begin our day at 14th-century Raby Castle, one of the best- preserved medieval castles in the North East. We have tea/coffee in the majestic Entrance Hall before we start our visit, and return to our hotel mid-afternoon.
Day 6 Following breakfast we make the journey south ensuring suitable refreshment stops along the way.
