Sitting pretty in the Bay of St Michael, just 14 miles from the Normandy Coast, the Channel Islands enjoy a wonderfully mild climate and have a unique atmosphere which almost belongs to a bygone age. Both islands boast beautiful coastlines, stunning bays, pretty country roads and historical attractions which range from the Neolithic to the German Occupation in the Second World War. Join us on this special explorer tour which includes tours on both islands with local drivers to give you an insight into the island way of life. Don’t forget that no VAT is levied, so you might like to indulge in a little shopping too!
Day 1 After an early pick up by taxi from your door, our coach travels along the coast to Poole, where we board the early afternoon Condor ferry to Guernsey. Relax on board for the 3hour crossing and when we cruise into St Peter Port, we are met by a local coach and transferred to our hotel in the parish of Vale.
Day 2 We board our local coach to travel around this wonderful island, visiting the rocky cliﬀs of the southern coast and the wide sweeping bays of the north. We will make plenty of stops throughout the day for refreshments and photographs. You might ﬁnd the perfect place to return to on your free day tomorrow.
Day 3 A free day to explore. You might like to stroll along the cliﬀ paths adjacent to our hotel, which rank among the most stunning in the Channel Islands. You might like to shop for VATfree goods in the pretty capital, visit Castle Cornet Museum, the German Underground Hospital or take the bus to any number of beautiful bays. Alternatively, you could take a day trip to Herm Island or to the traﬃc free island of Sark. Your courier can help you with these plans. (Entrances and travel not included.)
Day 4 Leaving our hotel after breakfast, we return to St Peter Port to board the lunchtime ferry which will take us on the one-hour journey to St Helier in Jersey. After a local coach transfer to our hotel, you might like to have lunch in the hotel, or go into town to have Sunday lunch there. The afternoon is free to explore at leisure.
Day 5 A coastal tour around Jersey today with a local knowledgeable driver, visiting many wonderful sights including St Brelade’s Bay, Corbière Lighthouse, Grève de Lecq, Bonne Nuit Bay and Gorey Harbour!
Day 6 On your free day on the island you could visit the War Tunnels, Samarès Manor, Hamptone Country Life Museum, the wonderful Durrell Wildlife Park, return to one of the many glorious bays we visited yesterday or pick up some bargains in the town – VAT-free. (Entrances and travel not included.)
Day 7 After a leisurely morning, we board our local coach for the transfer to the port in St Helier, where we board our ferry to return to Poole via Guernsey. We reach Poole at 7.25pm and our Woods coach will be waiting to take us back to the waiting taxis.
