Follow in the footsteps of Edward I, Henry II, Catherine of Aragon and Charles Dickens, and discover the wartime secrets deep in the White Cliffs of Dover.
Day 1 After our door to door service, we make our way across country to Rochester, with its stunning cathedral, castle and many links to Charles Dickens. We continue to our hotel near Canterbury arriving late afternoon.
Day 2 Today we visit what is possibly the loveliest castle in England. Leeds Castle is set on two islands on the River Len, and has almost 900 years of history and 500 acres of beautiful parkland and gardens. We have included a guided tour of the castle and you will have plenty of time to explore the gardens, café, shops, maze and the wonderful Birds of Prey Centre. We then visit the picturesque village of Chilham on our way back to our hotel.
Day 3 A free morning to enjoy the many attractions of Canterbury. In the afternoon we have a trip to Broadstairs on the Kent coast, the favourite holiday spot of Charles Dickens.
Day 4 We spend our day in another glorious castle – the iconic English fortress which has stood guard for over nine centuries high atop the famous White Cliffs - Dover Castle. During your visit you can climb the Great Tower, explore the Medieval interiors and witness the drama of the Secret Wartime Tunnels.
Day 5 We depart after breakfast and travel south for a visit to Rye with its charming cobbled streets and pretty buildings. We reach the local area and our taxis in the afternoon.
