A lovely tour in the iconic seaside town of Bournemouth with visits to Lyndhurst, Shaftesbury, Russell Cotes Art Gallery, Compton Acres and historic Athelhampton House with light lunch.
Day 1 Making our way through Hampshire and the New Forest, we have a stop in Lyndhurst where you will be able to get lunch. We continue to our hotel in Bournemouth to be greeted with tea and biscuits.
Day 2 This morning we visit the Russell Cotes Museum & Art Gallery, an exotic seaside villa on the cliffs overlooking Bournemouth. It is filled with amazing objects from around the world an astounding collection of high Victorian and Pre-Raphaelite art. In the afternoon we make our way to Compton Acres, one of the finest ornamental gardens in England. During our afternoon visit we enjoy a cream tea.
Day 3 A day at leisure to relax in the hotel or explore Bournemouth. Alternatively, join your driver on an excursion to Shaftesbury, where there are many cafés, independent shops and lovely views from Abbey Walk and down Gold Hill.
Day 4 Our day takes us to Athelhampton House and Gardens, to explore the 500-year-old house and find out about the history and its connection to Thomas Hardy. Enjoy the Elizabethan Gardens and find out about the amazing future of Athelhampton, the house had a change of ownership in 2019 and the plans to re-furnish the house, extend the viewable rooms and enhance the Great Hall have been taking place during 2020. During our visit we enjoy a light lunch, we return to our hotel mid-afternoon.
Day 5 Departing mid-morning, we travel the short distance to Wimborne, before making our way back to the local area and meeting our taxis.
Our family-run three-star hotel is situated on the East Cliff, with award winning garden frontage and terraces overlooking the bay. Bedrooms have TV, telephone, WiFi, safe, ironing facilities, hairdryer and hospitality tray. There is a lift to all floors but not all rooms can be accessed with no stairs. There is some evening entertainment.
