Day 1 We pick you up by taxi from your home and then travel by coach to St Albans where we have a break for lunch and sightseeing. We continue to our hotel in Bedford, arriving with time to relax before dinner.

Day 2 Today we travel to the Imperial War Museum at Duxford. Set within the best-preserved Second World War airfield in Europe, IWM Duxford is a vibrant museum, and is home to some of the world’s most iconic aircraft. Entrance to the American Air Museum is included. In the afternoon we travel to Cambridge, to meet our Blue Badge Guide for a driven tour of the city before we visit the nearby WWII American Cemetery and Memorial, the only one of its kind in the United Kingdom. During WWII eastern England became home to thousands of American air force personnel. This was sometimes dubbed the ‘friendly invasion’.

Day 3 We travel across to Ely, where the Saturday Market is in full swing. You might like to visit the cathedral, or just browse the stalls. The afternoon is free in Bedford.

Day 4 This morning we visit Bletchley Park, once Britain’s best kept secret and now a heritage site where we can explore some of the iconic WWII codebreaking huts, see the Enigma Machines and a wartime mini cinema, all housed in the ornate Victorian mansion which was the Intelligence HQ during the war.

Day 5 We depart after breakfast and make our way to Hughenden, country home of Benjamin Disraeli and wartime base of ‘Operation Hillside’. We then continue our journey homewards, joining our taxis late afternoon.
