Visiting Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and Warwickshire, we explore the villages in the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, and the homes of Sir Winston Churchill and William Shakespeare.
Day 1 We travel north, stopping in Oxford for lunch. We continue to our hotel arriving late afternoon.
Day 2 Follow in the footsteps of the Bard in Stratford-upon-Avon, with an included visit to the Birthplace Trust, which provides an insight into what shaped the man and his literature. We have some time at leisure to explore and a lovely 45-minute cruise on the River Avon.
Day 3 We explore pretty Cotswold villages, including Stow-on-the-Wold with its honey-coloured medieval buildings, art galleries and cafés. We stop for lunch at the charming café at Batsford Arboretum, before continuing to Broadway on our way back to our hotel.
Day 4 A visit to Blenheim Palace, a superb example of a Baroque residence situated in over 2000 acres of beautiful ‘Capability’ Brown parkland, childhood home to Sir Winston Churchill, and packed with stunning collections of art, tapestry and antiques. In the afternoon we head to Chipping Norton, another beautiful Cotswold town.
Day 5 We return home with a stop in Winchester along the way.
