With roadsides bursting with red and gold, the gardens and villages of Suffolk and East Anglia are beautiful to visit in Autumn.
Day 1 Enjoy our door to door service, then by coach we head north via St Albans to our hotel north of Cambridge to be greeted with tea and biscuits. We have a welcome drink before dinner for a chance to meet your fellow guests.
Day 2 This morning we visit the Italianate masterpiece of Ickworth, which is set in an ancient deer park and rolling Suffolk countryside alive with autumn colours. We have a 45-minute guided tour of The Rotunda followed by free time to explore. Our afternoon is spent in Bury St Edmunds, where you could visit the famous Abbey Gardens or St Edmundsbury Cathedral.
Day 3 After a leisurely breakfast we head out to tour the autumnal colours of rural Essex. We first visit Thaxted, with its famous Guildhall and restored windmill set against a backdrop of medieval houses. Onto the picture-postcard village of Finchingfield, complete with village pond, redbrick houses, tearooms and cafés.
Day 4 We spend today in Cambridge, a university city with a fascinating history on the River Cam. We meet our guide for a tour of the city and finish with a visit to the American Cemetery. There is also free time for your own exploration before we return to our hotel for a cream tea. This evening have a farewell glass of wine or fruit juice with dinner
Day 5 Leaving our hotel after breakfast, we travel home making suitable refreshment stops along the way.
Our three-star hotel is to the North of Cambridge and offers an open-plan lounge and bar and leisure facilities which include swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, gym and treatment rooms. Bedrooms have TV, telephone, WiFi, ironing facilities, safe, hairdryer and hospitality tray. There is no lift, but some ground floor rooms.
