In 2024, the great King of Waltz and his Johann Strauss Orchestra will again be holding his traditional summer evening concert in his hometown of Maastricht. As well as enjoying this amazing concert, explore the region, cruise The Meuse, spend a day in Monschau and discover the wonderful restaurants of Aachen from our city centre hotel.
Day 1 We travel to Dover for our short sea crossing to Calais, before continuing through France, Belgium and into Germany and our hotel in Aachen. The hotel is close to a great choice of restaurants in which you can enjoy your evening meal.
Day 2 A free day in Aachen or join your driver on an excursion to the small town of Monschau, where you can explore the romantic historic centre with its pretty half-timbered buildings, cobbled streets and plenty of shops and cafés. You could take a short stroll up to the castle, crossing the River Roer, for views of the nature valley and the old town below. We return to Aachen in time for dinner at a restaurant of your choice.
Day 3 We head to Maastricht in the early afternoon to embark on a leisurely one-hour boat trip along the River Meuse. After taking in the sights from the water, there is free time to explore the beautiful old town by foot before the highlight of your trip: the remarkable André Rieu, accompanied by his Johann Strauss Orchestra, will provide an unforgettable evening of music and entertainment in the stunning surroundings of the Vrijthof Square. His programme of irresistible waltzes, operetta and classic renditions is sure to amaze and move you. We return to the hotel after the concert.
Day 4 After breakfast, we begin our return journey via Belgium and France to Calais for our ferry crossing home.
Our modern and comfortable four-star hotel is situated in Aachen, close to the borders with Belgium and The Netherlands, near to the cathedral and a wonderful choice of restaurants in the heart of the historic city.
