Enjoy a relaxing late summer break in Torquay’s highest rated three-star hotel and visit the beautiful Devon home of Agatha Christie.
Day 1 We travel west by coach, making suitable refreshment stops along the way and arriving at our hotel in Torquay to relax before dinner.
Day 2 We are joined by a local Blue Badge Guide today for a tour which travels along the coast through Teignmouth, Dawlish and Exmouth, then back through Kingsteignton and Newton Abbott. We return to Torquay mid-afternoon, for free time in the town.
Day 3 We begin with a visit to Dartmouth, with a short time to explore before we board the Greenway Ferry for a 30-minute journey along the River Dart to Agatha Christie’s house of Greenway. Time has stopped in the 1950s for this beautiful family holiday home, crammed with Agatha’s family’s collections and surrounded by pretty woodland gardens. You have time for lunch and to explore before we meet our mid-afternoon ferry to return us to Dartmouth and our coach.
Day 4 A visit to Buckfast Abbey, home to a community of Benedictine monks, before stepping into the beautifully restored vintage carriages of the South Devon Heritage Railway for a return journey to Totnes alongside the River Dart.
Day 5 We depart after breakfast and have a stop in Winchester en route, reaching the local area mid-afternoon.
