This winter holiday to Austria covers a wonderful range of magical winter holiday experiences - horse-drawn sleighs, Medieval townscapes, snow-capped vistas, exciting train trips, cheese, schnapps and cake tastings - which will live long in your memories.
Day 1 We travel to Germany via the short sea crossing with P&O, and spend the night in the Saarbrucken area.
Day 2 We continue through Germany into the Austrian Tyrol. Once at the hotel we will enjoy a welcome drink followed by dinner.
Day 3 Today we visit the Medieval walled town of Rattenberg, and enjoy a tour of the Kisslinger Glass showroom. Afterwards enjoy an ‘apfelstrudel’ baking demonstration and taste a piece with coffee.
Day 4 We take a scenic circuit around the Wilder Kaiser and the Kitzbuhel Alps and stop in Gasteig at the Cheese Museum, for a tour and tasting. We visit Kitzbuhel, and the Tyrolean Schnapps Museum, for another tasting!
Day 5 We visit Innsbruck and Ambras Castle, a Renaissance jewel built in the 16th Century. Then a scenic journey on the Stubaitalbahn, a narrow-guage tram line past icy forests and Alpine meadows laden with snow.
Day 6 Today a horse drawn sleigh ride through a breathtaking winter’s landscape (tour maybe on wheels, weather dependent). In the afternoon we ride on the Pinzgau Winter Tale Railway to the icy Krimml Falls. A guided torchlight walk will take you to the foot of the illuminated frozen waterfalls, before enjoying dinner at Hanke’s restaurant.
Day 7 This morning we say goodbye to the Jenbacherhof and travel back to our overnight hotel in Germany.
Day 8 Today we cross the Channel and travel back to the local area, where our door to door service will be waiting to collect you.
Our four-star family-run hotel is in the centre of Jenbach, and has a restaurant, lounge bar, sauna, steam room and indoor swimming pool. Bedrooms have TV, telephone, (pay) WiFi, safe and hairdryer.
