Cruise down Southampton Water to the Solent and then head west and travel out to Hurst Castle, passing the New Forest Coast including Calshot, Lepe Country Park, the entrance to the Beaulieu River and the Exbury Estate. We will also see the north shore of the Isle of Wight. During our trip we may witness the departure of cruise ships (subject to confirmation) – always the cue to sound our whistle and play the ‘Shieldhall Organ’!
On this trip we will focus on ‘Secrets of the Solent’ with a full commentary reflecting the history and natural features of this celebrated stretch of water. We will welcome guests onboard from the Hampshire & Isle Of Wight Wildlife Trust (subject to confirmation).
As part of your cruise, see the impressive engine room with its original steam engines at work and the bridge, with its traditional instruments and gleaming brasswork; admire the ship’s steam assisted steering gear (similar to that used on Titanic); talk to the Captain and our volunteer crew; pass close to the great ocean liners and container ships; walk the teak decks; listen to an informed commentary on the sights and sounds of Southampton Water; relax in the Saloon with our wide range of refreshments including tea/coffee; real ale; a range of Titanic bottled beers; wine and hot and cold food, available on all trips.
Children will have fun with our interactive Shieldhall Log Book, collecting stickers from various stations on board!
