The Hythe Venetian Fete, first held in 1860, is one of south east England’s premier family fun events. Staged every two years on the third Wednesday in August, this unique carnival on water takes place on a half-mile stretch of the historic Royal Military Canal.
We arrive late afternoon, to be seated by 1800hrs, to enjoy the processions of floating tableaus, live music and spectacular displays, with a touch of pageantry.
As this is an outdoor event, we would advise that you bring warm clothing and a small cushion as it is bench seating.
There is a refreshment stop on the outward journey at Stone Cross Garden Centre, Pevensey.
