In celebration of one of England\u2019s greatest attractions and to mark the 300th anniversary of \u2018Capability\u2019 Brown, Visit England<\/a> is promoting 2016 as the Year of the English Garden and we think you should get involved!<\/p>\n

Here are just a few of the beautiful gardens available to visit in our 2016 brochure:<\/p>\n

Arran and Ayrshire<\/strong>
\nApril 3, 6 Days<\/em>
\nWe explore the beautiful Isle of Arran, including a visit to Brodick Castle and Gardens. The gardens provide an unrivalled experience, from the formal walled garden to the woodland walks. Brodick holds three national collections of rhododendron that flower in almost every month of the year. The country park extends from seashore to mountain top with over ten miles of way-marked trails and abundant wildlife.<\/p>\n

With its backdrop of mountain peaks, its terraced lawns and luxuriant gardens, Brodick Castle, Garden & Country Park is the very image of a Victorian \u2018Highland\u2019 estate.<\/p>\n

\nThis new tour incorporates four wonderful National Trust properties in the heart of Yorkshire, as well as Helmsley and York, and the beautiful gardens at RHS Harlow Carr.<\/p>\n

RHS Garden Harlow Carr in Yorkshire covers 27.5 hectares (68 acres). Set in a valley and very much a part of the Yorkshire countryside, the garden has a wide variety of growing landscapes, from running and still water to woodland and wildflower meadows.<\/p>\n

Acidic soil affords a fabulous environment for rhododendrons and Himalayan blue poppies, while visitors can be inspired if they have to contend with similar weather conditions – cold, drying winter winds, deep frosts, a cooler, shorter growing season and lots of wet weather. Here we take a look at just some of the highlights around RHS Garden Harlow Carr.<\/p>\n

\nThis tour incorporates wonderful gardens of the East of England including Audley End with formal gardens, organic kitchen gardens and parkland designed by Capability Brown, Helmingham Hall, set within a 400 acre deer park surrounding the moated Tudor Hall and Beth Chatto Gardens, six acres of beautiful water gardens created from an overgrown wasteland and includes a day out on the coast.<\/p>\n

\nWe celebrate the 300 year anniversary of England\u2019s most famous gardener, with visits to some of the great estates where he left his mark. Working in the 18th Century, Lancelot \u2018Capability\u2019 Brown was called upon by the landed gentry to redesign their grounds, making Ha Has, moving avenues, forming lakes and installing temples, until they became the sweeping landscapes that are still so popular today.<\/p>\n

During this 5 day experience we visit Castle Ashby, the ancestral home of the Marquess of Northampton, with a tour of the grounds designed by Lancelot Brown as well as Burghley House, we also visit the amazing Raptor Foundation which is home to over 200 birds of 40 species.<\/p>\n
