A springtime tour to Yorkshire visiting the award-winning World of James Herriot, the original home of All Creatures Great and Small, and the delightful towns of Knaresborough and Harrogate. Plus, there is free time in the historic city of York to explore at your leisure.
Day 1 After a morning pick up, our coach travels northwards with suitable refreshment stops, reaching our hotel in the centre of York late afternoon.
Day 2 Today is free for you to explore the ancient and historic city of York at your own leisure. There are lots of things to see and do – The National Railway Museum, The Jorvik Centre, or The Castle Museum. Stroll along the City Walls and wander around the excellent shops, exploring the many quaint little alleyways. Of course, no visit to York is complete without seeing the magnificent York Minster.
Day 3 This morning, take a stop in Knaresborough to see its magnificent Castle – a ruined fortress overlooking the River Nidd. From here, we head to Harrogate for free time. You may like to visit the world-famous Betty’s tearooms, enjoy a stroll through the Valley Gardens, or visit the Royal Pump Rooms Museum.
Day 4 We journey to Thirsk where we visit ‘The World of James Herriot’. This fascinating tour includes many of the props and three studio sets as featured in the long-running TV series. After our visit, enjoy some time at leisure to browse the marketplace before heading to Ripon, with its magnificent cathedral which is free to enter. Take time to look around the city before we travel back to our hotel.
Day 5 After breakfast, we depart and begin our homeward journey
Our quality hotel is situated on the banks of the River Ouse in the centre of York, ideal for exploring the attractions of the city. The restaurant serves both modern and traditional fare and you can relax in the Riverside Lounge whilst enjoying views across the water. Bedrooms have TV, WiFi, hairdryer, and hospitality tray.
