Enjoy a delightful break at a hotel with one of the best views in the country! We explore some of the iconic towns of the North Yorkshire coast, and take in the dramatic beauty of the national park by road and by rail.
Day 1 After your taxi pick up, we travel north making suitable refreshment stops along the way, arriving at our hotel late afternoon.
Day 2 We begin with a drive down through the North York Moors National Park through stunning scenery to Pickering. Here we have a little time to explore before we board our carriage on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. We travel 18 miles across the moors through Goathland Station (famous as ‘Hogsmeade Station’ in ‘Harry Potter’) and reach Whitby early afternoon. Spend time exploring the narrow streets and bustling harbour overlooked by the striking ruins of Whitby Abbey.
Day 3 Today we visit award-winning Eden Camp, near Malton, where we experience the sights, sounds and smells of life on the home front and the front line, all set in the buildings and grounds of an original World War II prisoner of war camp. We move on to Castle Howard, a palatial stately home set between two lakes and surrounded by beautiful gardens.
Day 4 A day out in York.
Day 5 We spend the morning in Scarborough. Choose whether to stay for the day or return to Ravenscar to relax or explore the grounds of our fabulous hotel.
Day 6 After breakfast we travel home.
Our three-star hotel is on the edge of the village of Ravenscar dramatically situated 600 feet above sea level, overlooking Robin Hood’s Bay. There is a restaurant, bar, three lounges and leisure facilities include a small swimming pool, putting green, croquet, bowls and wonderful walking opportunities. Bedrooms have TV, telephone, hairdryer and hospitality tray. The hotel has WiFi and a lift to the first and second floors.
